Single Console Automatic Radar Plotting Aid
Sotera's automatic radar plotting aid (ARPA), provides situational awareness through a cutting-edge radar display system which reduces the level of shipboard systems complexity and is equipped to operate on both standard and high speed vessels (HSVs). With Sotera's ARPA shipboard operators can safely and effectively navigate at any speed with a single console that allows users to seamlessly switch between radar sources thus enhancing safety at sea and helping the vessel operator protect territorial coastlines.
Unlike legacy ARPA systems which are tied to a specific radar source, Sotera's ARPA is designed to work with multiple radars, seamlessly switching between radar sources, regardless of radar manufacturer.
Capabilities
In developing our ARPA, we focused on enhancing key capabilities to benefit the operator and the systems needs of our clients. We looked at improving the system deployment time and developed an ARPA that can be rapidly deployed in 45 days or less and integrated with any legacy radar system to run on a Microsoft Windows PC operating system. Once in place, Sotera's ARPA provides a unified navigation display for systems that deploy one or more radar models with fully automated identification system (AIS) integration. The operator can seamlessly switch between radars at any time providing multiple views for enhanced maritime navigation.
Applications
Our system abides by international ARPA standards for HSVs; thus it can be integrated on both HSVs and standard vessels as a collision avoidance system. Sotera's ARPA is used to monitor ships in commercial ports and waterways allowing the operator to seamlessly switch between radar views of the littoral ways or used for law enforcement operations monitoring territorial coastlines. Additionally, because our ARPA can integrate with multiple radars in one system, it supports more effective bridge management for the operator.
